Paducah, Kentucky – Evening plans across western Kentucky could be impacted Sunday as thunderstorms develop after 6 p.m., with a risk for isolated severe weather east of the Mississippi River.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a strong cold front will sweep through Sunday evening, bringing a 25 to 50 percent chance of thunderstorms. While the overall severe threat remains limited, a few storms may produce damaging wind gusts near 60 mph and hail.

Communities including Paducah, Murray, Mayfield, and areas into southern Illinois such as Carbondale and Marion fall within the risk zone. Storms are expected to develop during the evening hours and track eastward, potentially impacting travel along I-24, I-57, and US-60.

Forecast confidence remains somewhat low, meaning storm intensity and coverage could still change. However, residents should prepare for quick-developing storms capable of brief but impactful conditions, including heavy rain and reduced visibility.

Residents are urged to monitor updates, secure outdoor items, and ensure multiple ways to receive warnings Sunday evening. Storms will move out later Sunday night, with cooler air settling into the region by early Monday.
