Wilmington, OH – Residents in the Ohio Valley should brace for strong winds Monday evening as a cold front moves through the region. Gusts are expected to reach up to 40 mph, creating potentially hazardous conditions for drivers, especially on open highways like I-71 and U.S. 35.

The National Weather Service reports that winds will strengthen during the late afternoon and peak overnight into Tuesday morning. Secure outdoor items such as patio furniture or trash cans to prevent damage, and exercise caution when traveling in high-profile vehicles. Temperatures will drop to a low of 26 degrees tonight, but the cold air will be short-lived.

Tuesday will bring mostly sunny skies with a high near 40 degrees, and conditions will remain dry through midweek. By Thursday, the region will see temperatures climb to a high of 47 degrees, offering a reprieve from January’s chill. Rain is likely to return late Thursday night into Friday, with an 80% chance of precipitation.

While breezy conditions will persist throughout Monday, the week ahead looks milder and mostly clear. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly for potential rainfall later in the week.
