CINCINNATI, Ohio – Residents across southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana should prepare for a volatile mix of heat and storms this afternoon and evening. Temperatures in Cincinnati are expected to climb to 95 degrees Tuesday with a heat index near 101, followed by the potential for strong thunderstorms capable of gusty winds and heavy rain.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, scattered storms will develop late in the afternoon and continue into the evening. While widespread severe weather is not expected, isolated cells could produce damaging winds and brief downpours, especially along the I-71 and I-75 corridors near Cincinnati. Rainfall amounts will generally remain under an inch, but localized flooding may occur in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
Drivers should watch for slick roads during the evening commute, while residents are urged to limit time outdoors during peak heat hours. The combination of high humidity and soaring temperatures will increase the risk of heat-related illness if precautions are not taken. Staying hydrated and checking on vulnerable neighbors is advised.
Conditions will improve Wednesday with highs in the mid-80s under partly sunny skies. No hazardous weather is expected through early next week after tonight’s storm chance passes.
