Cincinnati, Ohio – Scattered showers and a few isolated thunderstorms could pop up across the Ohio Valley this weekend, but most communities will stay dry until midweek. The National Weather Service says a slow-moving low pressure system will approach by Wednesday, bringing a greater chance for widespread rainfall across Ohio, Kentucky, and neighboring states.

According to the Ohio River Forecast Center, this weekend’s precipitation will be light and scattered, with the heaviest activity confined to southern Indiana and northern Kentucky. Rainfall amounts will generally stay under a quarter inch for most of the region. By midweek, moisture from the advancing system could bring a more sustained period of rain, with some areas potentially picking up an inch or more by Friday.

No significant river flooding is expected, though localized ponding could occur in poor drainage areas during heavier bursts. Motorists are advised to watch for wet roads, especially during the Wednesday evening commute.

Rain chances taper late in the week as drier air moves in from the west. Forecasters will continue to monitor the low’s progression and update advisories as needed.
