Louisville, KY – The Ohio Valley is set to experience an extended spell of unseasonably warm and mostly dry weather from October 24 through October 28, 2025, according to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s latest 6–10 day outlook. The forecast highlights a strong likelihood of above-average temperatures across Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, with precipitation chances leaning below normal.

According to NOAA’s update issued October 18, a broad ridge of high pressure centered over the central U.S. will drive temperatures up across the Midwest and Ohio Valley. Daytime highs could climb 10 to 15 degrees above seasonal norms, with some areas potentially topping the upper 70s to near 80°F—more typical of late September than late October.

Rainfall, on the other hand, looks limited. The outlook calls for below to near-normal precipitation across much of the Ohio River basin, meaning only isolated showers are possible. The dry, stable conditions will favor outdoor events and harvest activities but could temporarily slow soil moisture recovery in areas that recently saw early autumn dryness.

This pattern mirrors a broader national trend: warmth dominating the central and eastern U.S., while cooler, wetter conditions take hold across the Pacific Northwest. Meteorologists attribute the setup to a lingering ridge pattern strengthened by El Niño influences, which tend to enhance mild weather east of the Rockies.
