Cincinnati, Ohio – The Ohio Valley will see one more day of dry, warm conditions Tuesday before showers and storms make a midweek return. Highs will top out in the lower to mid-80s, with humidity beginning to creep higher.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, scattered showers may develop Wednesday, but a stronger round of rain is expected Wednesday night into Thursday as a cold front pushes across the region. Forecasters say a few thunderstorms could accompany the front, bringing the potential for brief heavy downpours.

Communities from Cincinnati to Dayton and Columbus could face slower commutes Wednesday night and Thursday morning as rain spreads across highways including I-70 and I-75. Drivers should allow extra travel time and watch for ponding on low-lying roads. Outdoor events and late-week school activities may also be impacted by scattered storms Thursday afternoon.

By Friday, cooler and drier air will settle into the Ohio Valley, offering a more comfortable stretch heading into the weekend. Additional weather updates are expected as the timing of the front becomes clearer.
