Cincinnati, Ohio – A second blast of unusually cool air is set to settle over the Ohio Valley late next week, bringing another stretch of fall-like temperatures well ahead of schedule.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, daily highs and lows could run more than 10°F below seasonal norms from midweek through next weekend. The latest 6–10 day outlook highlights high confidence in the continuation of below-average temperatures across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and portions of Illinois and West Virginia.

Much of central and southern Ohio—including Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati—can expect daytime highs struggling to hit the low 70s, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s in outlying areas. The cool surge may affect energy usage, prompting some early use of heating systems in rural communities.

While no major precipitation is forecast to accompany the cooldown, residents should prepare for extended outdoor events or travel with layered clothing. Gardeners may also want to monitor conditions in case of early morning chill.

This cool trend could persist through at least September 8, with more updates expected early next week if reinforcing air masses continue pushing south.
