Cincinnati, Ohio – Storms are likely to disrupt travel and outdoor plans in the Cincinnati area starting Thursday afternoon as heat and humidity fuel unstable air. A summer weather alert is in effect with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m. along the I-71 corridor, raising the risk of heavy rain and slick roads into the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Thursday’s high will reach 89°F before storm chances increase in the late afternoon. Rainfall amounts are expected to remain light overall, but localized downpours and thunder are possible. Drivers should remain alert for sudden visibility changes or wet pavement, especially during the evening commute.

By Friday, storm chances remain in place after 11 a.m., with a high near 90°F and humidity lingering. While nights may turn partly cloudy, showers are expected again Saturday—likely after 2 p.m.—as temperatures soar to 93°F. Weekend events and travel could face interruptions due to scattered thunderstorms, particularly Saturday evening and through early Sunday.

Sunday’s weather offers little relief. Showers may hit early before another round of storms develops after 2 p.m., with highs holding near 89°F. Rain chances linger into Sunday night and into the start of next week.

Looking ahead, the extended outlook includes another storm chance Monday and Tuesday, both days seeing highs near 90°F. Residents should plan for heat safety, stay hydrated, and monitor for changing alerts. More updates are expected as weekend timing firms up.
