Cincinnati, Ohio – Scattered storms continue across the Ohio Valley tonight as a cold front lingers, bringing the potential for heavy rain and localized flooding. Rain totals are expected to reach 0.5 to 1 inch across much of southern and eastern Ohio, with some communities seeing over 3 inches in isolated downpours.

According to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, rivers will remain within bankflow conditions despite the heavy rainfall, easing concerns about widespread flooding. However, urban areas and low-lying spots could see ponding on roads, making travel hazardous through the overnight hours.

Cities from Cincinnati to Huntington, West Virginia, are likely to see periods of heavy rain during the evening commute, with scattered thunderstorms extending into the night. Motorists are advised to avoid water-covered roadways and allow extra time for travel.

Conditions are expected to improve as a drier pattern sets in Thursday and continues into Friday, giving the region a break from the storms before the next weather system develops over the weekend.
