Columbus, Ohio – Residents across the Ohio Valley can expect a fairly typical stretch of late July weather, with temperatures remaining close to seasonal averages before gradually trending warmer as the week progresses into early August.

According to the National Weather Service and the Climate Prediction Center’s 8- to 14-day temperature outlook, the Ohio Valley falls within a region where near-normal temperatures are favored, though the western portion of the region is closer to the expanding area of above-normal warmth stretching across the Plains and Midwest. This suggests a gradual warming trend could develop during the period from July 26 through August 1.

The outlook includes Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and portions of southern Illinois and western West Virginia. While widespread extreme heat is not currently expected, afternoon temperatures may climb above seasonal averages at times, especially toward the end of the outlook period as warmer air pushes eastward.

Near-normal temperatures mean the region will continue to experience typical late-July warmth, with periods of humidity and occasional rounds of showers or thunderstorms remaining possible as weather systems move through. However, the extended outlook does not indicate a prolonged or widespread heat wave during this timeframe.

The Climate Prediction Center notes that the outlook represents broad temperature trends rather than day-to-day forecasts. Residents should continue checking local National Weather Service forecasts for more detailed information on daily temperatures, thunderstorms, and any heat-related advisories as the end of July approaches.
