Louisville, Kentucky – Temperatures will climb quickly across Kentucky by Friday afternoon, reaching the low 80s by Saturday and bringing a noticeable shift toward early-season heat with increasing storm chances.
According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, there is a 70 to 75 percent probability of above-normal temperatures statewide through early next week. Central and western Kentucky, including Louisville, Lexington, and Bowling Green, are in a favorable zone for sustained warmth.
Louisville is expected to reach the low 80s between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, with similar conditions extending east along I-64 toward Lexington. Bowling Green and areas along I-65 could see slightly warmer readings in the low to mid-80s, especially under partly sunny skies.
By late afternoon into the evening, increasing Gulf moisture will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms across the state. Storms may produce brief heavy rain, lightning, and wind gusts over 35 to 40 mph, especially along I-64, I-65, and I-75, potentially impacting evening travel.
Residents should stay hydrated, plan outdoor activities earlier in the day, and remain alert for rapidly changing weather during the evening hours. This pattern will persist through the weekend into early next week, with additional advisories likely as heat and storm chances continue.
