Cincinnati, Ohio – Residents across the Ohio Valley could face renewed winter travel disruptions as a late-January pattern increases the likelihood of accumulating snow from southern Ohio through Kentucky and into southern Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, the Ohio Valley is included in a slight risk for heavy snow from Saturday through the following Friday, signaling a higher chance for one or more organized winter systems moving through the central and eastern United States. Colder air is expected to remain in place across the region, favoring snow over rain.

In the Cincinnati metro area and across southern Ohio, temperatures trending below normal support snow with passing systems. That could lead to slick conditions along Interstates 71, 74, and 75, particularly during overnight and early morning travel windows.

Across northern Kentucky, including Louisville and surrounding communities, snow may arrive in multiple rounds, raising the potential for cumulative impacts on Interstates 64, 65, and 71. Farther west in southern Indiana, including Evansville and the lower Ohio Valley, colder air pressing south could allow snow to accumulate even outside higher terrain.

Transportation officials across the region urge residents to monitor road conditions closely, allow extra travel time, and keep vehicles stocked with winter emergency supplies. With cold air expected to persist, snow that falls may linger between systems.

More detailed timing and potential winter weather advisories are expected as the late-January window approaches, with clearer impacts becoming available by early next week.
