Ohio Valley, U.S. – Scattered storms are expected to continue across the Ohio Valley this week, bringing an increased threat of flash flooding to parts of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and West Virginia.

According to the US National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, a moisture-rich atmosphere will fuel several rounds of showers and thunderstorms through Sunday, July 21. The region has already seen over an inch of rain in the past week, with new rainfall totals potentially reaching two inches or more, especially in hilly and urban areas where runoff can rise quickly.

Cincinnati, Columbus, Louisville, Huntington, and Wheeling could see heavy downpours, street flooding, and rapid rises in creeks and rivers. Main highways including I-70, I-71, and I-64 may be impacted by standing water or temporary closures, particularly during periods of intense rainfall.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads, secure outdoor items, and keep phones charged in case of power outages. Urban neighborhoods and smaller streams remain especially vulnerable to flash flooding, which can develop with little warning.

With continued showers in the forecast, additional advisories may be issued. Flood risks are expected to persist through Sunday night as storms roll through the region.
