Cincinnati, Ohio – A stubborn stretch of cold weather is expected to linger across the Ohio Valley as February begins, keeping temperatures below normal and maintaining freezing conditions across Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky through much of the upcoming week.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, temperatures across the region are expected to remain below seasonal averages from Monday through Friday, while precipitation trends near normal. This pattern supports cold mornings and limited daytime warming rather than widespread storm systems.

Across Indiana, the prolonged cold may continue to create refreezing concerns on untreated roads, especially during the early morning commute along Interstate 70 and Interstate 65. In Ohio, similar conditions are expected statewide, with icy patches possible where light precipitation or melting snow refreezes overnight.

In Kentucky, colder-than-normal temperatures may persist even during the afternoon hours, particularly across northern counties near the Ohio River. In the Cincinnati metro area, highs are expected to struggle to recover, keeping winter impacts in place longer than usual for early February.

Residents are encouraged to continue cold-weather precautions, including allowing extra travel time, checking heating systems, and protecting exposed pipes. The National Weather Service notes the cold pattern could extend into midweek, and additional advisories may be issued if precipitation aligns with freezing temperatures.
