Cincinnati, Ohio – A cold front sweeping into the Ohio Valley this weekend is expected to bring periods of heavy rain, raising concerns for flooding in some areas through Monday morning. Drivers across central and northern Ohio could face ponding on roadways, while rural communities along streams and creeks may see quick rises in water levels.

According to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center, locally heavy downpours of more than 2 inches are possible, with the greatest risk stretching from northwest Ohio into the central Ohio Valley. While rivers are forecast to remain below flood stage, isolated stream and urban flooding could occur where rainfall is most intense.

Cities including Cincinnati, Columbus, and Dayton are likely to see steady rain through Sunday, with heavier pockets shifting northeast into Cleveland and Akron late in the weekend. Travel may slow on interstates such as I-70 and I-71, where low visibility and standing water could create hazards.

Emergency officials recommend avoiding flooded roads, charging devices in case of power interruptions, and allowing extra travel time through early Monday. Additional advisories may be issued if rainfall totals climb higher than projected.
