Columbus, Ohio – Much of the Ohio Valley will remain stuck in an early-spring chill this weekend, with high temperatures Saturday failing to reach seasonal norms and overnight lows dipping into the low-to-mid 40s across several cities.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, daytime highs Saturday will peak between 63°F and 65°F in cities like Cincinnati, Columbus, and Sidney—well below late May averages. The bigger drop comes after sunset, when temperatures plunge to 43°F in Logan, 44°F in Newark and Chillicothe, and only 45°F in Celina.

Communities including Dayton, Wilmington, and Portsmouth will also feel the chill, waking up Sunday to readings near 47°F. While no rain is expected, residents should prepare for a cool night by securing plants, dressing in layers, and avoiding extended outdoor exposure.

Drivers may want to check tire pressures and battery strength, as cooler temperatures can impact both. This weekend’s cold snap follows a similar late-May cooldown in 2021 that held highs in the 60s across southern Ohio.

Below-normal temperatures are expected to persist through the remainder of the weekend, with updated advisories possible from the Wilmington NWS office.
