Ohio – A cold, crisp start near 28°F is giving way to a fast-moving spring warm-up that could disrupt travel by Thursday afternoon. Roads remain dry this morning, but temperature swings and incoming storms will quickly change conditions across southern Ohio.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures climb steadily into the mid-60s by Wednesday, then surge into the mid-70s Thursday before a strong system pushes in. That system brings a 30% storm chance after 2 p.m. Thursday, increasing sharply into the evening with widespread rain and possible thunderstorms.

Wilmington and nearby Clinton County will see partly sunny skies build into thicker clouds by Wednesday night. A few light showers may develop after sunset, but the main impact arrives Thursday. Winds could gust near 29 mph, especially along I-71 and U.S. Route 68, reducing visibility during heavier downpours.

Rain intensifies Thursday night with a 90% chance of showers and embedded storms. Rainfall could approach 1 inch in spots, leading to ponding on roads and slower commutes early Friday. Plan extra time if traveling and keep devices charged in case of isolated outages.

Conditions turn sharply cooler by Friday, with highs dropping to the upper 40s and lingering showers early. Skies clear into Friday night, and temperatures fall back near 26°F. That setup raises concern for flash freezing on untreated surfaces into early Saturday morning.

Looking ahead, calmer and sunnier weather returns by the weekend, with gradual warming into early next week. Additional updates or alerts may follow as Thursday’s storm system approaches. Traveling later this week? Watch for changing road conditions and tell us what you’re seeing locally.
