Columbus, Ohio – Rivers across the Ohio Valley are slowly receding Wednesday as drier air settles in following a recent cold front, though scattered showers may linger into Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service’s Ohio River Forecast Center, a few locations remain at action stage or experiencing minor flooding from previous rainfall. While additional showers are expected overnight into Thursday, rainfall totals are projected to remain low. This should allow most rivers to continue dropping through the weekend.

Hydrologic concerns remain in parts of eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania, and northern Kentucky, where gauges still show elevated river levels. Areas near the Scioto, Muskingum, and Little Miami rivers should monitor updates, especially in low-lying or poorly drained zones.

Residents are urged to avoid walking or driving through flooded areas, and to keep emergency weather alerts enabled as isolated flood advisories remain possible. Drier conditions should dominate by Friday, offering a window for local creeks and streams to return to normal levels.

More updates will be issued if rainfall increases or river gauges rise again in flood-prone counties.
