Cincinnati, OH – A powerful storm system is set to bring severe weather across the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic on Saturday, with the potential for tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and large hail.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), severe thunderstorms are expected to develop by Saturday afternoon and continue into the evening. The highest risk spans from Ohio and Indiana into West Virginia, Kentucky, and parts of Pennsylvania and Virginia. Areas further south, including Tennessee and North Carolina, may also experience severe weather.

Forecasters warn that supercell thunderstorms could produce strong tornadoes, particularly in parts of Kentucky and southern Ohio. In addition, hail larger than two inches in diameter and wind gusts exceeding 70 mph are possible. These storms could cause power outages, structural damage, and hazardous travel conditions.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to monitor weather alerts and have multiple ways to receive warnings. The NWS recommends securing outdoor objects, reviewing emergency plans, and ensuring access to a safe shelter in the event of a tornado warning.

The storm system is expected to weaken by early Sunday, though lingering storms could still bring heavy rain and localized flooding. Stay updated with local forecasts and take necessary precautions ahead of Saturday’s severe weather threat.
