Ohio Valley Heat: High Temps and Thunderstorms Likely Sunday, Severe Weather Coming Monday

Wilmington, OH – Heat, thunderstorms, and severe weather are top concerns for the Ohio Valley today and tomorrow. As temperatures soar, many areas could feel like 95°F or higher, while the region faces scattered thunderstorm risks with a chance for severe weather Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, maximum heat index readings will reach the low-to-mid 90s across the region. Cities like Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati could see temperatures feel as hot as 96°F by 3 p.m. Sunday. At the same time, thunderstorms could develop, with the southern parts of the state seeing a higher likelihood of rain and strong winds.

Thunderstorms will be most prevalent in southern Ohio, where Cincinnati and Portsmouth face a 55% chance of precipitation. Further north, cities like Dayton and Wilmington have a 46% to 56% chance of rain, with a slightly lower likelihood farther north in areas like Celina and Kenton.

Severe weather risks escalate by Monday. Strong winds, damaging hail, and the potential for isolated tornadoes may impact the Ohio Valley through Monday evening. The National Weather Service warns of a potential shift toward more hazardous conditions by 8 p.m. Monday as a cold front approaches.
