Cincinnati, OH – A cold front sweeping across the Ohio Valley is bringing widespread rain and cooler conditions to the region to start the week, according to the National Weather Service Ohio River Forecast Center (OHRFC).
As of Sunday morning, October 19, rainfall totals between 1 and 3 inches were observed across the western Ohio Valley, with localized areas exceeding that amount. The system is now pushing east, and additional rain is expected through Monday night, particularly across portions of Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and western Pennsylvania.
Forecasters say up to 2 more inches of rain could fall in isolated areas as the front continues moving eastward. While flooding is not currently anticipated, forecasters advise that low-lying and poorly drained areas could experience ponding on roads.
By Tuesday, the front is expected to move out of the region, bringing drier and cooler weather. The OHRFC reports that overall mean rainfall for the 48-hour period ending Tuesday morning will average around 0.6 inches, though totals vary widely across the basin.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and use caution while driving in rain-soaked areas.
