Ohio Valley, USA – Heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding continue to impact parts of the Ohio Valley, as thunderstorms bring widespread rainfall over the next couple of days. The National Weather Service has warned that 1.5 to 4 inches of rain could accumulate, with the heaviest downpours focused in a corridor stretching from eastern Illinois to eastern Kentucky. Some localized areas could see even more rain, worsening flooding concerns in the region.

According to the NWS, the rain is expected to cause flash flooding in multiple locations. River flooding is also forecasted, with elevated levels already being monitored along the Ohio River and its tributaries. The threat is anticipated to persist through Monday, with the most significant rainfall expected overnight and into Monday morning.

Areas in eastern Illinois, southern Indiana, and parts of Kentucky are at the highest risk of river flooding. The situation has already prompted flood watches in several counties, with ongoing advisories urging residents to remain alert. Local authorities have also recommended avoiding low-lying areas and any travel near riverbanks, where conditions can change rapidly.

The National Weather Service advises all residents in affected regions to prepare for additional rainfall and the risk of flash flooding, especially along rivers. With heavy rainfall expected through Tuesday morning, it is critical to stay updated on any further weather developments or advisories.
