Cincinnati, Ohio – Weekend storms could bring up to 3 inches of rain across the Ohio Valley, raising the risk of minor flooding, especially south of the Ohio River.

According to the National Weather Service’s Ohio River Forecast Center, scattered showers will continue through Friday as a slow-moving low-pressure system pulls northeast. More significant rainfall is expected this weekend, particularly across western and southern Ohio, with the heaviest totals forecast between Saturday and Monday.

Communities including Portsmouth, Ironton, and Marietta could see rising river levels, with several gauge sites already approaching action stage. A 10-day river outlook indicates the potential for minor flooding in low-lying areas, especially near creeks and tributaries feeding the Ohio River.

Drivers should avoid water-covered roads, and residents in flood-prone areas are urged to move valuables and check sump pumps. Local emergency managers recommend keeping phones charged and preparing for possible road closures.

Rain chances will remain elevated through early next week. Additional weather statements or flood advisories may be issued as the system develops.

Warnings remain in effect through Tuesday morning, with the next update expected Saturday afternoon.
