Wilmington, OH – Bitter cold temperatures are set to grip the Ohio Valley this weekend, with lows tonight expected to drop into the mid-teens. Residents should prepare for freezing conditions as high temperatures will barely climb above 30°F during the day.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, today will feature overcast skies with a chance of flurries by late afternoon. Tonight, skies will partially clear, but the bitter cold will intensify as calm winds push temperatures down to 16°F. Those traveling overnight should watch for slick roads and black ice, especially on rural routes.

Sunday will bring some relief, with sunny skies and highs near 31°F. Light winds will keep conditions tolerable for outdoor activities, but layering is advised. Sunday night’s lows will again fall sharply, settling near 21°F under mostly clear skies.

Looking ahead to Christmas week, temperatures will trend upward, offering a mix of sun and rain. Monday’s highs will reach 43°F, while a rain system could move into the area late Monday night and into Tuesday. By Christmas Day, highs near 47°F are expected, but intermittent rain showers could dampen festivities.

Residents are urged to check on elderly neighbors and protect outdoor pets during this cold snap. Prepare your vehicles with emergency supplies and ensure pipes are insulated to prevent freezing. Stay updated with the latest forecasts as conditions develop.
