Wilmington, OH – Colder temperatures and a chance of showers are moving into Ohio this afternoon, with freezing conditions expected later this week. Residents should prepare for frost and thunder as an upper-level trough brings colder air across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley, starting today. High temperatures on Monday will hover around the mid-50s, with a slight chance of showers developing after 2 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, conditions will worsen as temperatures drop into the 30s overnight, with showers likely to continue through Tuesday. Thunderstorms are also possible Tuesday afternoon, with winds reaching 10-15 mph. Drivers along State Route 22 and other key roads in the region should use caution due to slick roads from the rain. As temperatures dip into the low 30s by Tuesday night, frost will become a concern, especially for those with sensitive plants or outdoor equipment.

A frost warning is in effect starting late Tuesday night, with Wednesday morning temperatures expected to remain below freezing. The coldest period will likely be Wednesday night into Thursday morning, where frost could cover much of the area. The National Weather Service encourages residents to protect plants and take precautions for freezing conditions. After midweek, skies will clear, and sunshine will return, bringing a brief warm-up by Friday, with temperatures reaching into the mid-60s.
