Wilmington, OH – Freezing rain will move into Ohio and Indiana this evening, making roads slick and dangerous for travel. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory from 5 p.m. Wednesday until 2 a.m. Thursday, with ice accumulation up to one-tenth of an inch possible.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, precipitation will begin as light freezing rain mixed with sleet before transitioning to all rain overnight. Areas along I-70 and central, southwest, and west-central Ohio are at the highest risk for icy conditions, particularly during the evening commute.
Drivers should use extreme caution on highways, bridges, and overpasses, as these surfaces will freeze first. Pedestrians should watch for slick sidewalks and drivewaysto avoid injuries.
Looking ahead, temperatures will warm into the mid-50s by Thursday afternoon, bringing rain showers instead of ice. A brief dry spell follows on Friday, but another wintry mix could develop by Saturday.
