Wilmington, OH – A bitter cold front will sweep into the Ohio Valley starting Monday night, bringing dangerously low wind chills and snow chances Tuesday. Residents are urged to prepare for icy conditions and protect themselves from sub-zero temperatures that could linger through midweek.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington, Arctic air will push temperatures to single digits Monday night, with wind chills ranging from zero to -10 degrees. By Tuesday, highs are expected to stay near 17°F, and light snow could create hazardous road conditions, especially during the evening commute. Gusty winds may exacerbate the chill and visibility concerns.

Tuesday night is forecast to be even colder, with lows dropping to around -4°F and wind chills nearing -15°F. The coldest day of the week will likely be Wednesday, with daytime highs struggling to reach 17°F and wind chills as low as -15°F in the morning.

Roadways, particularly along major routes like I-71 and U.S. 68, could become icy due to intermittent snowfall and freezing temperatures. Drivers are advised to slow down, carry emergency kits, and check road conditions before traveling.

The bitter cold will persist through Thursday, with slight warming by Friday as highs approach 29°F. Residents should limit outdoor exposure, ensure pets are sheltered, and keep an eye on vulnerable neighbors.

Stay tuned to the NWS for updates, and use this time to prepare for potential power outages and delays caused by extreme weather conditions.
