
Medina, Ohio – A quick but intense tornado swept through western Medina County Monday afternoon, leaving behind snapped trees and minor damage to homes and a barn. Residents reported the EF-0 tornado touched down at 3:57 p.m., carving a narrow path of destruction in just two minutes.
According to the National Weather Service Cleveland, the tornado tracked from Chatham Township to Lafayette Township with peak winds of 81 mph. The twister was on the ground for 1.32 miles, reaching a maximum width of 40 yards before dissipating at 3:59 p.m. Damage reports include multiple trees down, minor roof damage to a few homes, and one small unoccupied barn destroyed. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Local crews are clearing debris along affected roads, and homeowners are urged to watch for loose branches and power lines. If you spot downed lines, stay away and notify emergency services immediately. Residents should also inspect their roofs and outbuildings for possible hidden damage.
Monday’s tornado was the latest severe weather event in a summer marked by spotty storms across northern Ohio. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor for further thunderstorms this week. More advisories may be issued as conditions develop.
