Cleveland, Ohio – Torrential rain and isolated flooding could disrupt travel across northeastern Ohio this afternoon as a second wave of thunderstorms moves through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, two rounds of precipitation are expected Friday. Morning showers will primarily affect areas east of the I-71 corridor, followed by more intense storms in the afternoon and evening. These later storms may bring heavy rainfall, localized nuisance flooding, and thunderstorm activity across a broad area.

Temperatures will peak in the low to mid-70s during the day before a cold front sweeps in Friday evening, dropping overnight lows into the upper 40s to low 50s. The cooler air mass will likely linger into the weekend.

Drivers should avoid water-covered roads, especially in low-lying or poorly drained areas. Those east of I-71 and near urban centers like Akron, Canton, and Youngstown should remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions.

This marks one of the more significant spring rainfall events in the region so far this season. Additional watches or warnings could be issued later today as conditions evolve.
