Cleveland, Ohio – Drivers along the I-75 corridor could face downpours and lightning late Saturday afternoon as isolated thunderstorms develop across northern Ohio. The greatest risk is expected south of a Marion-to-Canton line, where stronger cells may bring heavy rain into the evening hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, additional rounds of showers and storms will redevelop late Saturday night and persist into Sunday, creating periods of reduced visibility and slick road conditions. The agency notes that while storms will remain scattered, some could impact travel on key highways including I-71, I-76, and I-77.
Cities most at risk include Mansfield, Wooster, Canton, and Marion, where localized rainfall may lead to ponding on roadways. Outdoor events and late-night travel could be disrupted, with lightning posing the primary hazard. Residents are urged to monitor changing radar conditions and avoid driving during sudden downpours.
More organized activity is expected to spread northeast toward Akron and Youngstown by early Sunday, with showers lingering through the day before conditions begin to improve by Monday.
