Cincinnati, Ohio – Drivers, homeowners and commuters across southwest Ohio should prepare for damaging winds and large hail as severe storms roll in Tuesday afternoon and evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Level 2 (Slight Risk) has been issued for much of southern and central Ohio, including Cincinnati, Dayton, Chillicothe, and Portsmouth. The most severe weather is expected between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Tuesday, with primary threats including wind gusts over 60 mph and hail up to one inch in diameter.

Cities such as Wilmington, Brookville, and Circleville fall under this enhanced risk zone, while Columbus, Marysville, and Richmond remain in a marginal risk area. NWS officials noted that an isolated tornado “cannot be ruled out,” especially in areas south of I-70 and along the Ohio River Valley.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, charge mobile devices, and avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm hours. Drivers should remain alert for rapidly changing conditions and fallen tree limbs on roads.

Storm watches and additional warnings may be issued Tuesday morning. Stay tuned to NOAA weather radio and local alerts for the latest updates.
