Lebanon, OH – A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect this afternoon across parts of southwest Ohio, with dangerous winds expected to impact travel and power lines.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the warning covers northeastern Warren County, Clinton County, and southwestern Greene County until 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Radar indicated a strong thunderstorm near Blanchester at 2:39 p.m., moving northeast at 25 mph with wind gusts up to 60 mph.
The storm may cause damage to trees and power lines, raising the risk of outages and road hazards. The advisory also includes parts of I-71 between mile markers 27 and 59, where drivers are urged to use caution.
Communities in the path of the storm include Lebanon, Wilmington, Blanchester, Waynesville, South Lebanon, and Morrow, as well as smaller towns such as Clarksville, Harveysburg, and Corwin. A separate warning remains in effect until 3 p.m. for northeastern Clermont, northwestern Brown, southeastern Warren, and southwestern Clinton counties, including Mason, Loveland, and Kings Island.
Residents are urged to take shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building until the warning expires. The weather service encourages safe reporting of severe weather impacts through its website or social media platforms.
