Dayton, Ohio – Damaging winds and large hail are expected to sweep across western Ohio and eastern Indiana beginning late Wednesday afternoon, with the most intense storms likely between 5 p.m. and midnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, storms may begin forming as early as 4 p.m. near the Indiana state line, pushing eastward through cities including Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus. A slight tornado risk exists, especially along and west of the I-71 corridor from Columbus to Maysville, Kentucky. The primary threat remains straight-line winds over 60 mph, with localized hail possible.

The areas under the greatest risk include Butler, Montgomery, and Warren counties in Ohio, along with Wayne and Union counties in Indiana. Travel could become hazardous along I-70, I-75, and US-35 during the evening commute. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, stay weather-aware, and charge mobile devices in case of outages.
