Cincinnati, OH – Heavy rain is expected to cause significant flash and river flooding across the southern Ohio Valley, with some areas facing major flooding risks, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Ohio River Forecast Center.
According to NWS, widespread rainfall of 2-4 inches is forecast, with heavier amounts of 5-7 inches expected south of the Ohio River, particularly in Kentucky and Tennessee. The heaviest rain is projected to fall from Saturday through Sunday.
Flooding concerns extend across multiple river basins, including Cumberland, Green, Kentucky, Licking, Sandy, Little Kanawha, Kanawha, Monongahela, and the Ohio River itself. NWS warns that widespread minor to moderate flooding is expected, with isolated areas facing major flood risks.
