Cleveland, OH – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland has extended a Winter Weather Advisory for Geauga and inland Ashtabula counties in Ohio, and Crawford County, Pennsylvania, as lake effect snow continues through 4 a.m. Friday.
Snowfall totals are expected to reach 1 to 3 inches in northeast Ohio and 2 to 4 inches in northwest Pennsylvania, with locally higher amounts possible under persistent snow bands. Winds gusting up to 30 mph may also reduce visibility at times.
According to the NWS, “Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.” The Thursday evening commute and any overnight travel could be affected by quickly changing conditions, as heavier bursts of snow move through the region.
Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and check updated conditions through OHGO.com in Ohio or 511PA.com in Pennsylvania. The snow will taper off late tonight as winds shift and lake effect activity weakens.
Motorists should remain alert for patchy ice and drifting snow, especially in rural areas and higher terrain east of Cleveland and around Meadville, PA.
