Pittsburgh, PA – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for parts of northwestern Pennsylvania and northeast Ohio, where snow and strong winds are expected to create hazardous travel conditions on Wednesday, December 10, according to the National Weather Service offices in Pittsburgh and Cleveland.
The advisory runs from 1 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST Wednesday and includes Crawford and Southern Erie Counties in Pennsylvania, along with Mercer, Venango, Forest, Clarion, and Jefferson Counties farther south and east.
Forecasters expect 3 to 5 inches of snow, with locally higher totals possible in areas near Lake Erie and higher terrain. Early Wednesday morning could bring a brief mix of freezing rain before transitioning to all snow. Winds will gust up to 35 mph, reducing visibility and creating blowing snow across open areas.
The heaviest snowfall is expected before and during the Wednesday morning commute, making travel slow and slippery across major routes including I-80, I-79, and US 322. Snow will taper to lake-effect bands Wednesday night into Thursday, potentially extending impacts near Erie and Crawford Counties.
Motorists are urged to allow extra time, reduce speed, and check 511pa.com or ohgo.com for real-time travel updates.
