Ohio’s lakefront looks quiet late this morning, but snow is lining up west of Cleveland and will move in before daybreak Wednesday. Temperatures hover near 20°F, and wind chills sit closer to 10°F along the shore.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, snow develops tonight, mainly before 3 a.m., with an 80 percent chance of precipitation. Accumulations remain under an inch, but roads could turn slick quickly as temperatures settle near 31°F. South winds increase to 14 to 17 mph, with gusts near 29 mph.

Even light snow can create trouble this time of year. Pavement that warms slightly during the afternoon often refreezes after sunset. That flash-freeze setup may glaze over bridges and ramps along I-90, I-71, and I-480. Plan extra time for the late commute and early Wednesday drive.

A mix of rain and snow lingers early Wednesday before tapering. Highs reach near 39°F. Colder air returns Wednesday night with lows in the mid-20s. Another round of snow showers is possible Thursday, with highs near 34°F.

Sunshine returns Friday with a high near 45°F. Saturday pushes into the upper 40s, offering a modest taste of spring along Lake Erie.

Looking ahead into early next week, temperatures moderate closer to seasonal norms, and long-range trends hint at milder air building across the Great Lakes in the 6- to 10-day window.
