Cleveland, Ohio – After a short break, lake-enhanced snow showers are set to return to Northeast Ohio tonight, bringing renewed slick travel concerns through Sunday, especially in the primary snowbelt east of Cleveland.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, snow showers will redevelop late tonight and continue into Sunday as cold air flows across Lake Erie. Accumulating snow is most likely across eastern Cuyahoga County into Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties, with additional impacts extending into Erie and Crawford counties in northwest Pennsylvania.

Snowfall totals through Sunday are expected to range from 1 to 2 inches in and near Cleveland, with higher amounts of 2 to 4 inches possible in the northeast Ohio snowbelt, including areas near Chardon, Ashtabula, Conneaut, and inland portions of Erie County, Pennsylvania. Visibility may drop quickly under heavier bands, creating difficult driving conditions at times.

Temperatures will remain cold throughout the weekend, with daytime highs in the mid 20s to near 30 and overnight lows dipping into the teens and lower 20s. Cold pavement will allow snow to accumulate quickly on untreated roads, bridges, and ramps.

Snow showers gradually taper Sunday night, and a slow rebound in temperatures is expected early next week. Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, reduce speeds in snowbelt areas, and monitor updates as lake snow bands shift. Additional advisories may be issued if bands become more persistent.
