Cleveland, Ohio – A dangerous stretch of extreme heat is taking hold across northern Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania, with heat index values expected to hit 104° through Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from noon Sunday through 8 p.m. Tuesday for cities including Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, and Youngstown, as well as Erie, PA. Daytime highs will hover in the upper 90s with oppressive humidity, and overnight lows are unlikely to dip below the mid-70s, offering little relief.

Counties under advisory include Cuyahoga, Lucas, Summit, Trumbull, Erie, and many more across the state’s northern half. Prolonged heat exposure can lead to serious health issues, especially for older adults, children, and outdoor workers.

Residents are urged to stay indoors in air-conditioned spaces, drink water frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Local cooling centers may be opened if demand increases.

This marks one of the longest stretches of high heat so far this year, with officials warning the pattern may extend into Wednesday. More advisories or potential Excessive Heat Warnings could follow.
