Troy, OH – A motorcyclist from Conover was killed Wednesday evening in a crash with a farm tractor in Miami County, authorities confirmed.
According to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office, the fatal crash happened October 1, 2025, around 4:51 p.m. at the intersection of North Alcony Conover Road and East Loy Road in Lostcreek Township. Deputies say the crash involved a motorcycle and a John Deere tractor.
Sheriff officials identified the rider as Shaun Cecil Crabtree, 39, of Conover. Investigators said Crabtree was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sheriff’s office crash reconstruction team is working to determine what led to the collision. As of Thursday, no additional details about contributing factors have been released. Officials noted the investigation remains ongoing.
Lostcreek Township is located just northeast of Troy, in Miami County, about 30 miles north of Dayton. The sheriff’s office said more updates will be provided as information becomes available.
Residents in the area reported seeing emergency crews responding to the rural intersection shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday. The crash temporarily restricted traffic while deputies and investigators worked the scene.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office urges drivers to use caution when traveling near farm equipment on rural roads, particularly during the fall harvest season when tractor traffic increases.
