A silvery mist clings to bridges and rooftops across Cincinnati this morning as freezing fog and light snow move through the area. Pavement shines under headlights — not from rain, but from a thin glaze of frost and ice that’s catching drivers off guard during the early commute.
The National Weather Service in Wilmington warns that minor snow accumulations under a half inch, combined with patchy freezing fog, are producing slick conditions across southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky, especially on untreated roads, bridges, and ramps. Visibility in some areas has dropped below a quarter mile, particularly along I-75, I-71, and the Brent Spence Bridge.
Conditions should gradually improve by midday as drier air filters in and temperatures climb just above freezing. However, a weak disturbance may bring a few more light snow showers late Friday into Saturday. Accumulations will remain minimal, but any wet pavement could refreeze during the evening hours.
Highs through the weekend stay in the mid-30s, with partly sunny skies Sunday before another system approaches early next week. Long-range models continue to hint at a more active storm track between December 11–17, potentially setting up stronger winter systems for the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley during early holiday travel.
Motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and use low beams in fog-prone areas. If you’re traveling along I-275 or Route 50, expect isolated slick patches through mid-morning.
