Ohio – Rain taps steadily on rooftops across Columbus this morning as temperatures sit near 34 degrees and mist reduces visibility along I-70 and I-71. Wet pavement and ponding water are already slowing traffic in spots. The bigger concern is how long this rain lasts.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a prolonged period of moderate rainfall is expected today into tonight across central Ohio. Some minor areal flooding issues may occur, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Creeks and small streams could rise quickly if heavier bands develop.
Highs climb to 49 degrees this afternoon as steady showers continue. Winds shift southwest later in the day. Drivers should allow extra braking distance and watch for water pooling near exits and underpasses.
Midweek stays unsettled. Showers and thunderstorms remain possible Wednesday with highs near 57. Rain chances increase again Wednesday night into Thursday, when temperatures jump to 67 degrees. Repeated rounds of rainfall from midweek through Saturday could increase the flooding threat.
By Friday, highs reach 73 with only scattered showers. Saturday remains wet with highs in the mid-70s before drier air arrives Sunday.
Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer daylight arrives as a warming trend builds into early next week, with highs pushing the upper 60s.
