Strong winds are already pushing across southern Ohio this morning, rattling signs and bending tree branches as a fast-moving spring system sweeps toward the region. Drivers along I-71 and nearby rural highways may notice gusts tugging at vehicles while loose outdoor items shift in the wind.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. today until 8 a.m. Monday across southwest and central Ohio, northern Kentucky, and southeast Indiana. South winds will reach 20 to 30 mph with gusts near 45 mph, strong enough to snap small limbs and trigger isolated power outages.

Communities including Wilmington, Dayton, Cincinnati, and Columbus will feel the strongest gusts through late afternoon. High-profile vehicles on open roadways such as I-71, I-75, and U.S. 68 could experience sudden crosswinds. Secure trash cans, patio furniture, and decorations before midday.

Conditions may grow more active after sunset. Meteorologists are tracking scattered thunderstorms developing late tonight, some capable of damaging wind. A brief tornado cannot be ruled out as the storm line moves through southern Ohio toward early Monday morning.

Rain may briefly change to light snow showers Monday as colder air rushes in behind the front. Temperatures tumble from near 70 degrees today to the upper 30s Monday afternoon, creating a sharp springtime whiplash.

Looking ahead, chilly air lingers into Tuesday with highs near 30 degrees before gradual warming returns midweek. By St. Patrick’s Day Tuesday, skies trend mostly cloudy but calmer.

Expect brisk winds and changing conditions through Monday morning. Additional advisories could follow if storms intensify tonight.
