Cincinnati, OH – A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for much of southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky, and parts of east central Indiana, with the potential for 3 to 6 inches of snow from Saturday morning through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington.

A Winter Weather Advisory is already in effect Thursday evening through Friday morning, calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow that could impact evening and morning commutes. The heavier system this weekend could significantly worsen travel conditions across the Cincinnati metro area, Dayton, Hamilton, Middletown, Florence, and Portsmouth.

According to the NWS, “Travel could be very difficult” during the storm’s peak, especially late Saturday into early Sunday. Temperatures are expected to stay below freezing through the weekend, meaning snow will likely stick to roads and sidewalks.

Officials urge residents to prepare now for potential power disruptions and travel delays. Drivers are advised to carry winter safety kits, including blankets, flashlights, booster cables, and water, in case of emergencies.

Motorists in Ohio can check OHGO.com for live road conditions, while Indiana and Kentucky drivers can visit 511in.org and goky.ky.gov respectively for updates.

Residents are encouraged to monitor NWS forecasts and local advisories as the system approaches, with updates expected Friday.
