Greenville, OH – The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Winter Storm Watch for portions of western Ohio and east-central Indiana, where several inches of snow may fall this weekend. The watch is in effect from Saturday morning through Sunday morning, with forecasters warning of potentially hazardous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, 3 to 5 inches of snow are possible across Mercer County, Darke County, and Wayne County, Indiana, as a developing storm system moves into the region Saturday morning. Snow is expected to mix with rain at times, particularly Saturday evening, leading to forecast uncertainty for exact accumulation totals.

The NWS notes that the rain–snow line will sit close to the watch area overnight Saturday, meaning totals could vary significantly over short distances. Areas that remain all snow may reach the higher end of the forecast range, while locations with more mixing may see less. Regardless of totals, forecasters say slippery roads and reduced visibility will likely impact travel Saturday night into early Sunday.

In its broader Hazardous Weather Outlook, the NWS highlights the potential for two rounds of wintry weather:
Saturday–Sunday: Primary system bringing a rain–snow mix with accumulating snow.
Monday night–Tuesday: Another chance for wintry precipitation, with additional snow accumulation possible.

The outlook covers a wide region including central, southwest, and west-central Ohio, southeast Indiana, and northern Kentucky, though the current Winter Storm Watch is focused on the three core counties along the IN–OH border.

Residents are urged to monitor updated forecasts and prepare for possible winter travel impacts beginning early Saturday.
