Ohio – Gray skies and a sharp breeze set the tone this morning as winter tightens its grip across the Ohio Valley. Sidewalks feel stiff underfoot, and the air carries that familiar metallic chill that signals bigger changes ahead.

According to the National Weather Service office in Wilmington, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Saturday morning through late Sunday night for much of southwest and central Ohio, including the Cincinnati metro. Snow totals between 6 and 10 inches are possible, with travel conditions expected to deteriorate quickly once snow becomes steadier Saturday afternoon.

Today brings calmer weather, but it serves as a brief pause. Temperatures slide downward heading into Friday, setting the stage for snow to stick easily. By Saturday afternoon, snow may begin accumulating across Hamilton, Butler, Warren, and Clermont counties, expanding into southeast Indiana and northern Kentucky. Gusty winds could reduce visibility at times, especially on exposed stretches of I-71, I-75, and I-74.

As snow intensifies Saturday night, untreated roads may become snow-covered and slick. Flash freezing remains a concern where daytime melting occurs before temperatures fall again. Drivers should plan extra time, avoid sudden braking, and keep emergency supplies in vehicles. For now, residents are urged to prepare for difficult travel and possible disruptions to weekend plans.

Cold air lingers into early next week, keeping snow on the ground and prolonging hazards. Additional advisories or warnings may be issued as confidence in snowfall totals increases.
