Ohio – Loose debris skitters across pavement and trees sway sharply as gusty winds build across the Cincinnati region, creating sudden hazards for drivers this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, southwest winds between 30 and 40 mph are developing, with isolated gusts exceeding 50 mph possible as showers pass through. These bursts may hit quickly, especially along rain bands, reducing visibility and pushing vehicles on open roads.

Across southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky, impacts are already noticeable from Cincinnati to Wilmington and Dayton. Drivers along I-71, I-75, and I-275 should expect strong crosswinds on bridges and exposed stretches. High-profile vehicles face the greatest risk. Secure outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel during peak gusts.

Showers continue through the afternoon, but the bigger pattern is still unfolding. Storm chances increase Tuesday into Tuesday evening, bringing scattered thunderstorms and brief heavy downpours. Temperatures climb into the low to mid-80s, adding instability for stronger cells.

By Wednesday, another wave of unsettled weather develops. Expect scattered showers and storms, especially later in the day. While widespread severe weather is not guaranteed, conditions remain favorable for gusty winds and lightning.

Thursday trends wetter, with periods of showers likely and highs cooling into the upper 70s. Roads may stay slick, especially during the afternoon commute.

Five Day Outlook for Cincinnati, Ohio

Wednesday: High 83°F, slight chance storms
Thursday: High 77°F, showers likely
