Wilmington, Ohio – Two rounds of snow are expected across parts of Ohio, Indiana, and northern Kentucky from Friday morning through Saturday morning, with accumulating snowfall likely along and south of Interstate 71.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, light snow showers began moving through the region early Friday morning and are expected to continue at times through the day. These initial showers may produce light accumulations, mainly on overpasses, bridges, and elevated surfaces.

A second, more impactful round of snow is forecast to move in Friday night into Saturday morning, bringing the potential for 1 to 3 inches of accumulation, especially for locations along and southeast of I-71. Forecast accumulation maps show the highest totals centered across southern and southeastern Ohio, with lower amounts farther northwest.

The National Weather Service notes that snowfall rates during the overnight period could be briefly heavier at times, which may lead to snow-covered roads and reduced visibility, particularly during early Saturday travel hours.

Temperatures are expected to remain cold enough for snow to accumulate efficiently overnight, increasing the likelihood of slick conditions during the Saturday morning commute in affected areas.

Drivers are urged to use caution on untreated roads, particularly during overnight and early morning hours, and to remain alert for changing road conditions as the second round of snow moves through the region.
