Greenville, OH – The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Special Weather Statement warning of a strong thunderstorm moving through portions of northeastern Wayne County, Indiana, and central Darke County, Ohio, this afternoon.
At 4:12 p.m. EDT Tuesday, October 21, radar indicated a storm about 7 miles northwest of New Madison, tracking east at 40 mph. The system is producing wind gusts up to 45 mph, capable of knocking down small tree limbs and blowing unsecured outdoor items.
Communities likely to be impacted include Greenville, Arcanum, Union City, New Madison, Ansonia, and Wayne Lakes.
No hail or severe weather has been reported, but residents are advised to seek shelter indoors until the storm passes. Motorists should use caution on rural roads, where crosswinds may make driving difficult.
The NWS encourages residents to report hazardous conditions through weather.gov/iln or social media, when safe to do so.
Storms are expected to continue moving east through the late afternoon before clearing early this evening.
