Cleveland, OH – Residents in Cleveland and surrounding areas can expect a brief reprieve from the heat today, especially closer to Lake Erie. After days of intense heat, Thursday brings slightly cooler temperatures, with peak heat index values expected to be in the mid to upper 80s. However, this break is temporary as the heat will surge again on Friday, pushing peak heat indexes into the 90s across much of northern Ohio.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Cleveland, the region will experience a cold front starting on Saturday, bringing a noticeable cooling trend. Alongside the cooler temperatures, occasional showers and storms are expected late Friday into Saturday morning. These storms could disrupt plans for those getting an early start on Labor Day weekend celebrations.
As we approach the holiday weekend, the weather becomes a mixed bag. The storm system expected over the weekend could bring scattered thunderstorms, particularly on Friday afternoon and evening, before the cold front clears the area. Temperatures are predicted to be more comfortable by Saturday, offering some relief for outdoor activities planned for the long weekend.
